Alexander McQueen Pre-Fall 2013

Only a few hours ago did I see my first glimpse of the Alexander McQueen Pre-Fall collection for 2013; my jaw dropped to the floor in awe. I personally think this is Sarah Burton's greatest collection to date. It's a work of art, like something you'd pluck out of a medieval painting.
The Amish were a huge influence for this collection (note the shoes, high-waisted trousers and oversized collars), along with the church (monk-like cloaks, pendants and high round necks). It's all very regal, yet modern - what every Hans Christian Andersen villain would wear in my mind; each piece screams power and dominance. Theatrical billowing cloaks, sharp-cut capes and the modern palette of white, black and red - a beautiful contrast of purity and darkness.
It's absolutely breath-taking, McQueen at its finest. Alexander McQueen's vision evidently stays within Burton's designs, but she's not afraid to be her own designer either. This is only a glimpse of what's to come, she's in a complete league of her own. Outstanding!
