The Ombré

Check out Ombré the hottest 2010/2011 hair trend in Fashion & Hollywood. Watch the first video on the starlets who sport the trend, as well as a close look into the trend in a salon in the UK.
For the past year a particular trend that really grabbed my attention (and is still going strong!), even before I knew it had a name, is the Ombré.

Now I'm not really a trend-goer myself, but I've been seeing this a lot in TV shows and movies and I like it!
One important thing that has to be noted is that in order to look GOOD, the Ombré has to be done RIGHT. Otherwise you end up just looking dirty and like you haven't gone to the salon in a while (like the girl pictured below).
The Ombré is meant to be a gradual fade of colours that should either be very feathery and subtle, or if you like VERY dramatically obvious. There should be no in-betweens. Also, the colours have to be chosen wisely so definitely have second input if you're going to do this at home, or just go to a semi-high end salon.
The difference with over-grown roots is that over-grown roots typically look like two colours that don't match put side by side with a distinct borderline in between. With the Ombré it is obvious (when done right) that the effect was intended, with colours that compliment and fade into each other.

Celebrities who sport the Ombré hair trend:
Alessandra Ambrosio

Cameron Diaz
Drew Barrymore
Elle McPherson
Emily Blunt
Fergie
Hilary Duff
Jessica Biel

LC is a beautiful girl, but here is where I personally think the Ombré does NOT work. Her hair looks cut off into three separate sections, and is a bit Cruella de Ville-esque to me.
Looking a lot better here, I like this look for those who prefer to go more drastic with the style.
Leighton Meester
Megan Fox

Sarah Jessica Parker

Sienna Miller

What do you think?
I vote yes for Ombré.
